Medicinal Uses
Historically, the root has been used medicinally to rehabilitate the lungs, especially for those who have a chronic smoking habit or injury. It is traditionally used to help rid mucus that is stagnant and clean the liver and digestive system of toxins. It is increasingly important to grow herbs to help our respiratory systems cope and heal from the inhalation of toxic smoke from all the fires we now have throughout the year.

Stories & Traditions
“Helenium” in its scientific name comes from Helen of Troy. In Greek legend, elecampane sprung up where her tears fell.
