The flowers and leaves are traditionally used medicinally (fresh or dried). Arnica has bright yellow flowers that bloom from late May to early June. The flowers are often harvested when fully open.

USDA Growing Zone(s): Meadow arnica grows is hardy to zones 2-9.
 
Meadow arnica is an easy-to-grow perennial plant that is native to California and other parts of North America. It enjoys full to partial sun, grows in all soil types, and spreads underground through rhizomes. In lowland areas, ensure regular watering and yearly compost as it responds well to rich soil. It can take 2-3 years of establishing before flowering.

Medicinal Uses
Historically, meadow arnica has been used medicinally to reduce inflammation, swelling, bruises, and pain from sprains or other muscle injuries by applying a salve or compress externally. It has also traditionally been used to help alleviate pain and swelling of arthritic joints. It is not used on broken skin or internally.
